B i o g r a p h y

With teachers as parents, and a great grandmother who taught piano, education is in my blood! I hold a Master of Arts in Piano Pedagogy from the University of Ottawa through the  Piano Pedagogy Research Laboratory;  a Bachelor of Education (music major) from Brandon University, Manitoba, and ARCT Piano Pedagogy/Performer diplomas from the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM). These studies led to various piano education conference presentations based on my master's thesis in Canada and the United States. In addition, I hold RCM Certified Teacher designations in Piano, Theory, Harmony and History.

I have been instructing students of all levels for over 30 years in piano, rudiments history, harmony, and pedagogy. My students have won provincial and national awards for the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) exams, festivals, successfully completed scholarship and university entrance auditions, and performed at Carnegie Hall and the Summer Fine Arts program with Juilliard. I am a 4-time Steinway Top Teacher award winner and is a STEP (Steinway Teacher and Educational Partner) studio. I am in demand as a festival adjudicator and masterclass clinician.

I have been a Piano Examiner for the RCM since 2016 and am also a Presiding Examiner for the RCM College of Examiners, mentoring examiners in training. I am now the Lead Specialist in Accessibility and Accommodations for the College, providing guidance in making exams attainable to all students and completing quality assurance evaluations.

I have been on the Board of Directors of the Honens International Piano Competition since 2022, co- chairing the Education and Community Outreach committee. In 2025 I joined the Canadian Chopin Competition Board of Directors.

Previously I was on the council of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Associations (ORMTA) Ottawa branch as Competitions Convener, Junior Piano Masterclass Convener and Secretary.

I provide a customized high quality curriculum including sight and ear training, theory, composition and improvisation to develop students' technical and musical facilities. Students also receive performance training through monthly studio performance classes. Students are taught the techniques they need to become independent learners and to properly practice at home at each lesson.  By maintaining high standards for my students they are encouraged to reach their full personal potential. I believe piano lessons provide not only a knowledge and love of music but valuable life lessons as well.
