B i o g r a p h y

With teachers as parents, and a great grandmother who taught piano, education is in my blood! I hold a Master of Arts in Piano Pedagogy degree from the University of Ottawa through the  Piano Pedagogy Research Laboratory;  a Bachelor of Education (music major) degree from Brandon University, Manitoba, and ARCT Piano Pedagogy/Performer diplomas from the Royal Conservatory of Music. These studies led to various piano education conference presentations based on my master's thesis in Canada and the United States.

I am a piano examiner for the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) as well as a RCM Certified Teacher in Elementary/Intermediate/Advanced Piano and Elementary/Intermediate Theory. I work as a festival adjudicator in addition to maintaining a private studio.  In 30 years of teaching my students have been very successful in RCM exams, local and national festivals, university auditions and have been invited to perform at the prestigious Carnegie Hall. I am on the Board of Directors of the Honens International Piano Competition, with a focus on educational outreach.

I provide a customized high quality curriculum including sight and ear training, theory, composition and improvisation to develop students' technical and musical facilities. Students also receive performance training through monthly studio performance classes. Students are taught the techniques they need to become independent learners and to properly practice at home at each lesson.  By maintaining high standards for my students they are encouraged to reach their full personal potential. I believe piano lessons provide not only a knowledge and love of music but valuable life lessons as well.

If you are looking for a structured and enjoyable music education my private studio may be the place for you.
